Sean - since we left for this whole trip, our show in Athens GA has been 'tentative'. The club owner at Athen's 'Hi-Hat' had assured me for weeks that he just had to secure another band or two to confirm the bill. After endless phone tag and unreturned calls, we have Henry in atlanta (who knows this guy) put in a few calls. As expected, the show is not happening and we set off north towards chapel hill. The pisser about this all is that, had the athens guy given us at least a few days heads-up on the show not happening, we could have joined forces with Henry and most likely set something else up as a last minute replacement show.

Matters are made worse by receiving emails from folks in athens who were planning to attend the show. A night off this late into the tour is painful, and it keeps me in a shitty disposition for most of the afternoon. Perhaps an Athens hex on Lenola? our show there back in our fall 1997 tour also fell though on the day of the show. The drive to chapel hill seems endless, as the AAA trip-tic routes us through small backroads, instead of what we later find out would have been a faster drive straight up from atlanta on interstate 85.
