- warmest weather of the trip so far. Sunny, with enough humidity in the air that you notice it, especially after our last week in the arid southwest. A dramatic shift in landscape slowly occurs all afternoon as the long brown fields and dry bushes of texas give way to lush evergreens of Lousiana. Jay is feeling strangely under the weather(hangover) by the time we get to lafayette. It's a Sunday night show in a weird section of town, with slim prospects for a good turnout. After mulling it over for a bit, we do a Lenola first-time-ever-in-5-years-as-a-band and tell the promoter we will not be able to play tonight. He is unusually nice about it, even giving us a few dollars for gas anyway. We get back on the road and make some progress towards new orleans, eventually grabbing a room. Jay seems better already, perhaps we made the right move tonight. We watch Cornelius, taped from a philadelphia show, on HBO's 'reverb'. Scott proudly identifies his silouetted fists pumping up into the air above the audience.
